ASP.NET is a technology for creating dynamic Web applications. It is part of the .NET Framework; you can author ASP.NET applications in any .NET compatible language, including Visual Basic .NET, C#, and J#. ASP.NET pages (Web Forms) are compiled, providing better performance than with scripting languages. Web Forms allow you to build powerful forms-based Web pages. When building these pages, you can use ASP.NET server controls to create common UI elements, and program them for common tasks. These controls allow you to rapidly build a Web Form out of reusable built-in or custom components, simplifying the code of a page. On all new Versions
Active Server Pages (ASP) technology provides the environment in which you can run scripts on the server. If you can write HTML, you can create an ASP file. It's really that easy. Your ASP file is simply a file that can contain any combination of HTML, scripting, and calls to components. When you make a change to the ASP file on the server, you need only save the changes to the file-the next time the Web page is loaded, the script will automatically be compiled. Of course, to take advantage of ASP, you'll want to add features the script that will run on the server, such as database access or other network-related work. On all new Versions
